2012 Election #2
For this blog, you will be taking an online quiz that will match your beliefs on issues in politics to a candidate running in the 2012 election. The candidate you match with would be the candidate that you would vote for.
Here is the quiz:
http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/fullpage/match-matic-presidential-candidate-2012-match-15177995
After the quiz:
Reflect on the candidate you were matched with. Where you surprised? Where you expecting to lean more conservative or liberal? What about the candidate do you like? Are there aspects of their platform that you disagree with?
After taking the quiz, I was matched up with candidate Barack Obama, currently the President of the United States of America. I was not surprised that he was my match because I am a Democrat, just as he is, and I agree on most aspects of his platform. For example,I support the Affordable Health Care Act because it aims to help get more Americans insured. I also agree with his views on same-sex marriage; I define marriage as between a man and woman. Yet,I think the power to allow same-sex marriages remains under state law, like President Obama. In addition, Barack Obama is mostly anti-abortion, just like me, which is why he prohibited U.S. money from funding international family-planning clinics that promote abortions. I also support his ideas on immigration and foreign policy because he gives illegal immigrants the chance to become permanent residents in America, which is generous, and deals with foreign matters by supporting and negotiating with other nations instead of taking independent American action. There is only one issue that I disagree with Obama on, how to improve the economy. His methods have proven to be ineffective because they worked in the beginning but failed to greatly drop the unemployment rate. I would boost the economy in different ways that are more efficient in evaluating their purpose. Other than that, I think President Obama is a good candidate and should be reelected. I like everything about him, expect for the plans he is using to help the economy. He is a very sensible leader, and I feel that he knows what he is doing no matter what Republicans say. Barack Obama always finds a way to help people, and I think he will take America to a whole new level. He is what this country needs; if I was old enough to vote, I would vote for him. Lastly, I expected to be neither more conservative or more liberal, but in the middle. I believe President Obama is in the middle as well, not leaning towards one over the other.
ReplyDeleteOn Obama's view of abortion, he is actually pro-abortion and allows U.S. money to be used to fund international family-planning clinics that promote abortions. I misinterpreted his ideals. I, on the other hand, am pro-life and disagree with his views. Abortions are like depriving humans the right to live, which I think is cruel and inhumane. This is why I am anti-abortion, unless abortion is necessary in certain serious situations.
ReplyDeleteLike Savera, the candidate I was matched up with was President Barack Obama. I was not very surprised that I was matched up with him because while I was reading through “Where He Stands on the Issues”, I noticed that I agreed with a lot of the things he agreed with. I agreed with him on 4/6 of the topics, how to make the economy better, health care, foreign policy and immigration.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting to lean more liberal because things obviously need to change in America, such as the economy and the way that people were trying to fix it before was not working well so we need to find a new way to boost up the economy. There are many issues that need to be dealt with, so I am leaning towards being more liberal than conservative because we need to find new ways to over come issues.
Some things that I like about President Obama are that he does not personally believe in same sex marriages, but he wants to make same sex marriage a state law. Like Savera, I also support Barack Obama’s Affordable Health Care Act because I think that it is very important that all Americans are insured. A third thing I like about President Obama is that he believes that the security along the U.S. and Mexico border should be increased, I also agree with that because immigration is become a big issue in the United States. .
The only thing I disagree with from President Obama’s platform is that he is pro-abortion. I am against abortion and think it should be illegal under almost all circumstances because, as Savera said, it is denying the right to live, and that’s just wrong.
Overall, I mostly agree with his ideas on most of the topics on his platform. If I were old enough to vote, I would vote for Barack Obama.
I was really surprised that I was matched with Mitt Romney. Like Kelly said I agreed with everything Obama has done. The only thing I didn't like was Obama care.I thought that I was leaning towards a more liberal candidate, like Obama. I support gay marriage and so does Obama, He thinks that it shouldn't be ban.Mitt Romney doesn't. I do not however support Mitt's views of immigration. He thinks that we should build a fence around the entire border. ONLY allow immigrants with degrees in math and science. I don't support this. Our country is poor enough and by bringing in more "smart" people would just add to the turmoil. What we should do is prevent U.S born children of illegals from being legal. If we do that than the illegals wont want to come here, if there children wont ever be legal. I do however support his views on abortion. Every other candidate says that abortion should be illegal in every case. Mitt Romney thinks that it should be illegal, except in the case of rape and incest.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking this test, I was matched up with the current President of the United States, Barack Obama. I am not really surprised that I was paired with Obama because I am a moderate according to the test we took in civics class and my beliefs are both on the conservative and liberal sides of the scale. I kind of expected to be slightly more liberal, but again, I am a moderate and my beliefs could go either way. What I like about Obama is that he is against abortion, just like I am. Like Savara, I think that it is an awful thing that deprives humans of the right to live. Similarly, Obama also believes that same sex marriage should be under the control of the state law. I too think that gay marriage should be controlled by the state because it is not right to just outwardly ban gay marriage from the country. However, I disagree with Obama's view on healthcare. Obama wants to give free and affordable healthcare to everyone in the country. I strongly disagree. I don't think that people should just be handed healthcare. Instead, they should have to work for it and learn how to support themselves.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz I was matched up Barack Obama, our current president. This is somewhat surprising as I agree with only about half of his beliefs. But I was not expecting weather to be liberal or conservative. This is because I had not really thought about the issues before and what side I agreed with.I do agree that abortion should be a woman’s right to chose, similar to Obama. This is because it is your life and your body, and if you are not ready for parenthood, why bring the child into that. I also agree with Obama about gay rights. I see nothing wrong with same sex marriages, and they to deserve the right to be married and live happily ever after. Other things I agreed on with Obama is taking the troops out slowly, ways to lower oil prices, and how to improve education. One of the biggest things I disagree with like Lizzie said was healthcare. People should not be handed something they do not work for, but should use wanting healthcare as motivation to get a good job. I also do not agree with taxing the billionaires and millionaires more. They have rightfully earned that money, and being penalized for their success if not right.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking this quiz, I was paired up with President Barack Obama. I was not surprised by this however, because when we took the political ideology test in Civics, I answered liberal on most of the questions. I do agree with a lot of Obama's ideas, and I think that he would do a good job if he was reelected. One point that I agree with Obama on is his idea to slowly remove troops from Afghanistan. I think that our country should be done with this war, but we need to end it slowly. I do not think that it would be a smart move to rapidly remove the troops, because it could just cause more trouble. I also strongly agree with Obama's plan for health care. I think that health care should be affordable because everyone deserves health care. There are a lot of people that cannot afford health care and it only puts them deeper in debt when they cannot afford their doctors bills. I think that it will really help people, especially when it comes to health issues, and that is what is important. I also very much agree with Obama's views on abortion. I think that it is a decision that should be left up to the girl that is pregnant. No one should be telling her whether she should be allowed to have an abortion or not. It is her body and she has to live with the decision, so why go through the process of trying to pass a law that says other wise. One thing that I do disagree with is Obama's views on the best way to reform the tax code. I do not think that taxing the richer citizens more is the best way to help the other citizens. I think that taxes should be lowered for everyone because it would make it a lot easier for all of the citizens. Taxes are too high right now and they should be lowered for the people.

ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz I was matched up with Barrack Obama. This is not surprising to me, because I do agree with many of his ideas. I was not expecting to lean more conservative or liberal. One of his ideas that I agree with is same-sex marriage. Obama believes that marriage is defined by man and women, but he does not want to ban same-sex marriage. He believes that if you want to marry someone of the same sex, you should be able to, without it being illegal. I agree with him. Another topic that I agree with Obama on is abortion. I agree with him because I am very "pro-life," just like Obama, but I also think that if it is your body, you should be able to choose what to do with it, and you should not have to have a baby if you are not ready for one. For example, if you are raped, it is not your fault that you are pregnant, so if you do not want the baby, you should be able to have an abortion. I agree with Obama also on foreign Policy, immigration, and education, but I do not agree with Obama on the healthcare issue. Like Lizzie and Baylee said, if you are not working to get the healthcare you need, you should not have it handed to you, because it is not fair. I also agree with baylee that we should be taxing the millionaires and billionaires more. They have earned that money, and worked hard for it, and that does not mean that they should have to spend it on taxes more than poorer people do. The poorer people may not have tried to earn money, therefore it is not fair that the people with more money who have worked hard for it, should have to pay more taxes. Overall, it is not a surprise to me that I got matched up with Obama, as I agree with him on many of the issues, with the exception of a few
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz I discovered that my top candidate was Barack Obama, which seems to be the case for most of the other people that took the quiz and posted what they got.
ReplyDeleteI had an idea that I was going to be matched with Barack Obama because i agree with some of his ideas and his platform. Even though I am not really into the election I think that Barack Obama's plans and ideas are good and i agree with what he says.
I like that he wants to higher taxes for the million and billionaires because they have more money and its fair for them to have to give a little more than the poorer people. I am especially the this idea because after being a minority in the civic mirror and being charged more for taxes i thought it was ridiculous and a bad way to handle things. I think the rich should have been charged more than the minorities.
Another idea of his that i felt strongly about was bringing back the troops from Afghanistan. I think the troops should be removed but I don't think we have to rush it, i think we can take our time and have them all out in the next few years. Trying to take them out fast could back fire on us and we need to take it as a slow process.
My last big idea that i agree with Obama on his abortion. i think it should be totally legal. some people haves cases where they get pregnant and they do not have the money or time to support a kid and if abortion was illegal than the kid might end up getting raised in a bad environment. Also i agree with Molly when she says it's your body and your life, and that's what they should be thinking about when it comes to abortion.
I think I would have been more a liberal but not completely and fully agreeing with the liberals ideas. i was expecting to lean in the middle area or a little on the liberal side.
There wasn't really anything that i completely disagreed with that Obama stands for and I think that is why on my quiz he was my top candidate.
I was matched up with Mitt Romney. I was really surprised with this outcome as I agree with most of Obama's ideas, but definitely excluding Obamacare. I saw that things I agreed with for Obama were only 1 less than that of Mitt Romney's. One thing I disagreed with Romney was that I support gay marriage, and he does not. I did agree with him that abortion should be illegal except in cases of rape or incest. Interesting, if I was able to vote, I would have gone for Barrack Obama, although this has made me consider it again. Now, I am thinking that I do not agree completely with any of the candidates. Mitt Romney shares only some of my views, but not enough for me to back him on everything else.
ReplyDeleteI was paired with President Barack Obama. I was not surprised because like Savera, Kelly, Nicole, Molly and Alexa, I agree with a lot of Obama's platform. I wasn't expecting to be more conservative or more liberal; I don't think total government control or total citizen control of anything will really make things like the economy and healthcare better. I think that Obama's Health Care Plan has the potential to greatly effect society if it hasn't already. I think that, like Obama said, given time, the policies could really make a difference. The concept of combining tax cuts, more accessibility and government funding does seem realistic but the government is still in a lot of dept. Along with a vast majority of other people, I have my concerns for Obama's plan with reforming the economy. On top of funding healthcare benefits, he has already spent more money in hopes of rebuilding the economy. But I think this idea also has a chance; there aren't many other ways of easily solving an economic crisis such as ours. Overall, I do have my concerns for some of Obama's decisions but for the most part I think he is handling things steadily for the time being.
ReplyDeleteI, as well as many of my other classmates, was paired with Barak Obama. I was not surprised, as I expected to see that I have similar views to somebody who is liberal. Considering the fact that Obama is the only Democrat in the running this term, he must be the most liberal candidate in the mix. Not to offend anybody, but I can not stand to hear when people say that they are anti-abortion. Why should somebody who does not even want a baby be forced to have one. The child would most likely be mistreated and unloved, as it would not be wanted by its parents. If somebody is not ready to care for a baby, they should not have to try to care for one. Yes, it is the parents' mistake in the first place, but a parent's idiocies should not cause a baby to suffer. Obama and I both believe in a woman's right to choose. Obama and I also agree on the fact that more money should be put into public schools. Although I feel that I myself am in a pretty substantial school, I am not blind to less fortunate areas, and scholastic funding would make a huge difference in these areas. I also agree with Obama's healthcare system. Everybody should have healthcare because everybody should get a fighting chance to living a healthy lifestyle. That being said, I disagree with Baylee and Lizzie because they say that people should have to pay for healthcare themselves, which they say is possible if people work hard enough. I feel that those who need free healthcare do work hard and that sometimes those who work the hardest get the least benefits and still can not afford to pay for their own needs. Therefore, free healthcare is the perfect solution. One thing I do disagree with Obama on is the fact that he wants to pull the troops out of Afghanistan slowly, but I feel that they need to get out quickly. In my opinion, the war has run its course, and the longer we take to pull the troops out, the more lives are going to be lost, and the more loved one are going to be distraught.
ReplyDeleteI was paired with Barack Obama. I agreed with his economic taxes, he said that the rich should be taxed more. This should happen because while its a huge dent in the lower class pay checks, it's nothing to them. I also agreed with his security because Afghanistan is still a threat and if we leave now they have all the right to attack us, so we should slowly leave. I also agreed with the hot topics of global warming, gay marriage, and Abortion. Gay marriage should be legal in every state, and the same with abortion. Abortion should be the parents rights, we should't force any of it.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz, I was matched up with Mitt Romney. I am not really surprised because out of the republican candidates, Mitt Romney is my choice. I am more of a moderate when it comes to politics so I was not shocked when I got Mitt Romney, a republican as #1 and Barrack Obama, a democrat as #2. For this election I find myself leaning more towards the conservative side. I support Mitt Romney's ideas about the war, that we should leave it up to the generals to decide what our next step should be. Someone who is sitting in Washington D.C might think he knows how things are going over in the middle east, but we need the people who are over there, in the middle of this war, deciding what we need to do. I also agree with Mitt Romney's ideas about Pakistan. I also believe that we need to keep on sending aid and continue having them as allies. The last thing we need right now is more enemies attacking us with nuclear weapons. Finally, I agree with Mitt Romney's stance on education, that we need to modify no Child Left Behind because while I don't hate MCAS, I do not like MCAS. I disagree on Mitt Romney's stance on the economy. I believe we need to end the Bush-Era tax cuts and make a flat tax or graduated taxes.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz I was matched with Barrack Obama as my 1st, Ron Paul as my 2nd, and Michele Bachmann as my 3rd. I am not really surprised that I got Barrack Obama because I am a Democrat. I am surprised that I got Ron Paul as my number 2 because I feel that my 2nd choose would be Mitt Romney because he is my favorite Republican. I believe that what Barrack believes the cut breaks with rich people is good. I also agree with what Barrack believes when it comes to health care because his healthcare solution is helping a lot of people. I also agree with him because humans have cause global warming with all of the carbon pollution. I also agree with him because abortion is the parents decision and should not be forced into having an abortion or not. Also I believe that the government should put more money into public schooling because not all the people have enough money to pay for Charter schools.
ReplyDeleteI think I got Ron Paul because of what he believes in security. I agree with him on how we should bring the troops home as soon as possible from Afganistan. I also agree with him on the fact that we need to strengthen the laws against citizenship in America. I also agree with him on the fact that we need to eliminate the price of gas. Also the states should choose if there should be gay marriage or not.
The candidate that I was matched with was Mitt Romney. I am not surprised by this because I already liked Mitt Romney the most and I agree with most of his platform. I was not expecting to lean towards either liberal or conservative, because I feel that I am not entirely one or the other but that I am a moderate. I like that Romney has experience in the government because he was the Massachusetts governor. I also like the fact that he wants to repeal the "Obamacare" and the fact that he wants to take a step towards dealing with illegal immigrants. There are, however, some aspects of his platform that I do not agree with. I do not agree that we should amend the constitution to say that gay marriage is illegal. I do not agree with gay marriage, but there are a lot of people who are gay and it wouldn't be right if we went against their practices. I also do not entirely agree with his foreign policy. I feel that we shouldn't get into other country's businesses, but I also feel that we should help other countries out if they ask for our help or if their issues affect the US.
ReplyDeleteI was matched up with Ron Paul. I'm not surprised at all because i am a republican. i dont like abortion unless it is needed like rape and incest just like Ron Paul. Yet, i do agree with some of the Democratic decisions. I think that abortion should be legalized on certain terms. And, we do need to get the troops out of foreign places. i thought that i was going to be a liberal because i do agree with some things that Barak has done. like his health care plan. i like it.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz for the first time, I was matched up with Rick Perry. I was surprised and took the quiz again, realizing that I had misunderstood one of the vital questions. After taking it the second time, I was matched up with Barack Obama, the current President of the United States. This answer was more to what I had expected and favored more. I do not know much about Rick Perry, but it seems to be that I had shared similar views of his. Previous to taking the quiz, I had not thought whether my views would be liberal or conservative as I don't know much information about either side. Even after researching conservative and liberal views, I am still not sure which one I would lean towards. As for the similarities between my own views and Obama's, there are some I agree with and some I don't. For example, I agree with Obama that same-sex marriage should not be illegal or banned outright. I also agree with Obama about bringing the American troops home; America should do it slowly over the next few years. But I do disagree with Obama and agree with Mitt Romney when it comes to the topic of abortion. I do not completely disagree to abortion being illegal but I feel it is really mostly needed in the situation of rape or incest as Mitt Romney has stated.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz like Kelly, Baylee, Savera, Molly and Alexa I was matched up with Barrack Obama. I was not surprised on my best match up being him because I agree with almost all of his platform. I think he is doing good for this country and what he believe in will make a difference. I partially agree with his Health care act. It is helping american people who need it but molly said if you are not working to get health care you need to get up and try to find a job, anywhere as long as your contributing to what you didn't have before. Also as Edj said we are in a lot of debt as a country and we need to focus a little more on bigger problems but from what Obama is saying his beliefs and future improvements are I think he will continue to be a great president if he is re elected. I really do agree with his word on abortion thou. It may be offending to people but I also do agree on having abortion be legal. A baby is not a baby until it actually begins to develop in your stomach and when you get a abortion I don't believe its a baby yet from what I know about abortion but I could be wrong. The point im trying to make is if you don't want to have a baby you shouldn't be forced to do it, it's your own life and having a baby at the wrong times could really mess your life up so I agree with making it legal. A baby should be born when you are going to give it love and your all not when your going to give it doubt and regret. I don't really disagree with anything Obama says so this mus be why I was not surprised on him popping up as my best candidate match. I think his ideas are great and he's a good president.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking this quiz I got Mitt Romney. I was not surprised because I like Mitt Romney and most of his ideas. I definitely thought I would lean more conservative and I was right. I agree with his foreign policy and his views on Obamacare. I however completely disagree with his opinions about gay marriage. He thinks that "traditional marriage" between a man and a woman should be protected. I, however, think that gay marriage should be legal.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz, I was matched up with Obama. This did surprise me, but I did not know exactly why. I myself do not consider myself a Democrat or Republican, more of an Independent. The most important thing that I agree with my candidate is that Obama is for gay marriages, and pro-choice. I thank that people should marry whoever they love, and it doesn’t matter what gender you are. I also think that a girl has the right to choose whether or not she could raise a child; if it was conceived by accident, then it should be the mother’s choice of whether to give life, or no.
ReplyDeleteLike many others i was match up with Mitt Romney. At first I was very surprised because I have heard many things about him on television about much of which was rather negative. However, after reviewing what we had in common my out look on him changed. I do not follow the political companies very closes if at all, and this may change my mind as to who i support. However, many of the ideas that him and I have in common are about issues that did not particularly directly pertain to me such as: creating jobs, bring troops home, strengthening Mexican borders, heath care, and foreign oil. Therefore, I am not necessarily well educated on the topics. However, my #2 candidate was Barack Obama the United States current President this was the most shocking to me because i have heard many negative things about him through out the years that he has been in office. And when I looked at the topics that I was match with him i realized that it was the same as Mitt Romney. Then I took a closer look and noticed that the topics that I match to him were things such as: taxes, Pakistan, global warming, abortion, and education. Which effect me more directly, especially in the field of education. His to put ore investment in public school, with more charter schools, and incentive for effective. Is one of the most important topics that this country is faced with to day because, the kids that are growing up today in our educational system are the future of the country and, they should be one of our top priorities because if we put money into something such as the Mexican border today instead of bettering out children's education. Then in 20 years when people that grew up in Chinas vastly growing educational system are taking over America because the American people were not educated enough, there is not even going to be a border to worry about. And I think that he is also right about abortions because the is America the country that was founded on freedom and i do not know about you but having the government tell you weather you have to have a child or not does not sound very free to me, and because of these other beliefs of Obama I believe that he would make an amazing president!... The second time around
ReplyDeleteAlso as far as liberal verses conservative are concerned i do not favor one or the other. I believe that the principle that the country was founded on are grate and we should alway keep them in mind and live by them. Although the word has also change a lot since the 1700's when it was written.... a lot as changed in the past 10 years. What was good back then is not necessarily good know. Therefore, while the conservative is good. We must also go forth with open minds.
The first time I took the quiz I was matched with Barack Obama, mainly because I am pro-choice, believe in Global Warming and believe in Gay rights. My take on this is that this test is an inadequate way to determine who a person is voting for. It only has a handful of issues, and because I agreed with Obama on those three (ONLY those three)I am now voting for him? No. My runner up was Ron Paul, and I can understand that because I consider myself a libertarian and he has been going along with the libertarian movement, but I do not think that he has the right view/take on libertarians. I have come to the decision that none of the candidates in the republican party or Barack Obama would be good presidents, so we have to settle with one of them. This makes me sad for the country. As you can see this has nothing to do with me being Republican or Democratic, because I don't necessarily consider myself either but if I had to choose I would be more right-winged, mainly because I want less control on economics. but you can infer from the fact that I am a libertarian that I DO NOT want more control on personal behaviors, so I am stuck in the middle with this. Hopefully whoever is elected president won't mess things up too much, but no one ever seems to be completely happy.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking this quiz, I was paired up with current President Barack Obama like many other of my classmates. I do not pay much attention to politics so I had no idea who I would be paired with. There are things that I agree with that Obama has done and believes. I agree with his views on abortion about being against it, but not making a law against it. I think that if something happens such as rape or a health scare, the mother should be able to make her own decision because it is her body. I also do not think that abortion during anything but the first trimester should be allowed. I also agree with his view on tax cuts. I do not think that the government should be paying money for people who do not need tax cuts to have tax cuts. I also agree that small businesses should have tax cuts. One thing that I do not agree with that Obama has done is his health care program. I like what Lizzie said about not handing people their health care. I think that they should have to work to take care of themselves.
ReplyDeleteLike most of my other classmates, I was also matched up with Barack Obama after taking this quiz. At first this surprised me, but now that I think about it more, it seems to make sense. According to the test I took in civics test, I lean more towards the democratic/liberal side. This makes sense that i was matched with Obama because he is also a democrat/liberal. I do agree with most of Obama's platforms. The one thing I liked most about Obama is his view on gay marriage. I agree with Obama when he says that gay marriage should not just be banned, the decision should be up to the state. I strongly beieve that gay marriage should be legal everywhere, so I agree that it should not be banned. I also agree with Obama's views on bringing the troops home. I believe we should bring the troops home, but slowly, not all at once. Obama has the same view. However, I disagree with Obama's view on abortion. Obama supports abortion rights and believes that it should be legal and federally protected. I don't believe abortion should be allowed, except in special situations. I am anit-abortion but I don't believe there should be a constitutional ammendment against it. I would probably vote for Obama if I could vote.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz, I was matched up to current US President Obama. Similar to what Mary said, I do not know too much about politics so I didn't have a concrete idea of who I might get. I did however think that maybe I would have a better chance of being matched to Mitt Romney for the reason that I agree with him on more topics compared to Obama. However, I do also agree with Obama on many topics such as same sex marriage and cutting tax breaks on the wealthy. Why give tax breaks to people who don't need it? Something that I do disagree with though is "ObamaCare" because I agree with the statement that the government should not be involved with people's healthcare.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the test, I was also paired with President Barack Obama. I am not surprised about the result at all. I knew that I supported more of the democratic ideas rather than republican views. Like Steph, I also agree with the affordable health care plan and I believe that it is helping many americans who were not able to receive health care before hand. I also agree with Obama and believe that women have the right to make their own decision on abortion, so I am therefore pro-choice. Like Sara, some of the questions I could not answer confidently since I do not know a whole lot about politics.
ReplyDeleteLike most people here, I was matched with President Obama. I am not surprised because I agree with almost all of his decisions. I was expecting to lean more towards liberal because I agree with President Obama on raising taxes on the wealthy and upper class citizens. I agree with Obama on topics like education, jobs, and foreign policy. I support having more funding for schools because a better education will make the future for the next generation better with more opportunity. I agree that by building up America's infrastructure, we can decrease the unemployment rate. I believe that we should begin to bring our troops home because they should be back home with their families instead fighting in a country which they have already helped so much. One topic that I disagree with Obama is abortion. I am pro-life but believe that abortion should be permitted under the circumstances such as rape and incest.
ReplyDeleteLike Evan and many others I was matched with president Obama. I am slightly surprised by this. I am not involved in politics and much of the debates going on so I did not completely understand all of the selections. I agree with him on his view of healthcare; as of now the economy is not in great shape and the Health care act is helping many American citizens. I consider myself more of a Democrat and believe that the wealthy should pay more taxes. I do not believe that since they have more money they should pay less so they have money to help out the nation voluntarily; i just don't see this happening. I agree with him in the sense that he wants to build a 700 mile long fence along the U.S/Mexico border but do not agree with lightening the emigration laws. I do not agree with his decision about working with foreign countries, the United States needs to solve it's growing problems before it gets wrapped up in other countries affairs. We should only step in if our country is endanger or if another heavily discussed situation arises for the moment. Again i do not focus on politics too much and don't have a great understanding of all of the candidates and some of the laws and reforms.
ReplyDeleteI was also matched with President Obama. I was not surprised because I like Courtney agree with more democratic than republican. I don't know much about politics but what I do know I mostly agree with democratic. I strongly agree with Obama about abortion. I believe that a women has the right to decide for herslef. There are situations where they are physically and emotionally not ready to take care of the baby. Like Courtney and Sara, I could not answer with full confidence about most questions because I do not know much about politics. I do know that I agree mostly with Obama's decisions after taking the quiz.
ReplyDeleteLike many others, I was matched with President Obama. I wasn't surprised, because like Willow said I do agree more with Democratic outlooks, although I do not know a lot about politics.Because of my lack of knowledge in politics, I again agree with Willow, Courtney, and Sara, I did not understand some of the questions and did not have enough background information on the issue. There are many aspects of Obama's campaign that I agree with, but there are some parts of his platform that I do not support entirely. One issue that I do agree with him on is to take out troops from Afghanistan slowly. Also, I agree that Global Warming is an important issue that I believe will have to be dealt with soon.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking this quiz, I was paired up with Michele Bachmann, who, I believe, was not paired up with any one of my other classmates. Even though I am not very well educated on both the Republican and Democrat parties and candidates, as well as politics, I am not very surprised on who I ended up being paired with. I am not very surprised because by both of my parents being Republican supporters, I gain a great amount of knowledge and information about many, or all of the Republican candidates at home. From what I have learned at home about these Republican candidates, I feel that I support the Republican party much more than the Democrat party because I agree with many of their views and thoughts on important aspects of our country, such as lower taxes, more successful education, and creating new jobs. Unlike Courtney, I am not pro-choice, so I therefore do not feel that women should be able make their own decisions on having an abortion. Therefore, I am pro-life and I strongly feel that in no way, any human being should be killed, no matter if they are born or not. Because of my similar thoughts and views as many of these Republican candidates, I predicted that I would be more of a conservative because of the fact that I think the taxes in our country should be lowered and people in our country should be able to take care of themselves and not rely on the government to make their decisions for them. I do not agree with Michele Bachmann's view on abortions because she pro-choice and I am pro-life.
ReplyDeleteLike many other people, the candidate that I matched up with was Barack Obama. I had a feeling that he would be the one, but I did not think that I would agree on as many of his issues as I did. I am neither a Democrat or a Republican but an Independent as well as a moderate. I agree with many of the Democrat’s stances such as immigration, foreign policy, same sex marriage and abortion but feel the Republican’s can do a better job fixing the economy. One of the issues that I did not agree on was Obamacare. Although I feel that everyone should have health care, like Lizzie, Molly and Baylee, I do not feel that the tax payers should be paying for the people that cannot afford it. I also agree with Obama on same sex marriage and abortion. While Obama believes that marriage is between a man and a woman, his stance on gay marriage is “evolving”. Like Obama, I support the right to legalize abortion and I feel that it is the woman’s right to choose. Like Baylee and Molly I feel that we should increase taxes for the millionaires and billionaires. This will reduce taxes for the middle and lower classes. I also agree with the President’s stance on troops in Afganistan. We both feel that the U.S needs to withdraw troops from Afghanistan slowly within three years. Although I feel that the soldiers should come home now, it puts Afghanistan as well as the troops in danger. If a lot of troops are gone the remaining ones have a better chance of getting killed or injured as they are more vulnerable with out the support of their fellow soldiers. If we train the Afghans to support themselves it will be a much safer Middle East. A safer Middle East means a safer America.
ReplyDeleteI was pared with Mitt Romney. This did not surprise me because I was brought up on strong Republican values and my views reflect that. I was expecting to lean more towards a conservative because as I said earlier, that is how I was brought up and has had a big impact on the way that I view politics. The thing that I like the most about Mitt is that he has the same views as me when it comes to many things, especially on the No Child Left Behind Bill. One thing about Mitt’s platform that I disagree with is that I do not think that gay marriage should be illegal, I think that it should be the couples choice if they want to be married or not.
ReplyDeleteI was paired with Obama, which to me, wasn't that surprising. I support a lot of what Obama has done. I was expecting to lean very liberal. Unlike many others, I am not moderate and really know what my views are. I really like Obama's opinions on the hot topics. I'm very supportive of gay marriage and believe that having an abortion is a choice that the pregnant woman, not the government, should make. I believe in global warming and do think we're the reason it has become such a problem. I also really agree with his views on taxes. Those with more money should be the ones that have to contribute more to the income of the government, not the poor who can barely support themselves. The only issue I'm sort of against Obama in is health care. While I believe people should be given affordable health care, I don't think it should be forced upon them. Not all of us have the money to spend on it, so we shouldn't be forced to. I also disagree with continuing aid to Pakistan. The US is having too much trouble to focus on other countries. Also, it's troublesome to support a country that may hurt us in the end.
ReplyDeletei was matched up with candidate Barrack Obama. Even though I'm not very educated about the candidates and what they believe in, i was not really surprised. I agree with Obama on the issue of abortion. I think that the government should not have any say on what a woman does. it does not matter the situation, if a woman does not want to or feel she is ready for a baby, she should not have to have one. Also, even though I am technically a moderate, i agree with more democratic thoughts. Like Willow, I don't know how to answer all of the questions because i am not very educated in politics.
ReplyDeleteI was matched with Barack Obama. I am not surprised, because I agree with the things I know about him. When we took the test in civics, I leaned more toward the liberal side. I don't disagree with any of his policies and there are many ideas that we have the same veiw on. For example, I think his ideas on our troops overseas are more reasonable than any other candidates. He thinks that we should slowly take our troops home, but we need to be safe and make sure that we are not risking the safety of the U.S or the foreign citizens. I also agree with his veiws on abortion, like Sami. And, I agree with his veiws on gay marriage. I don't know much about his veiws on the economy, and the different ideas about the bailouts, healthcare, taxes and all that. I do know that I think it is ridiculous to tax richer people more, which I think he agrees with, so that is one issue where our veiws differ. Overall, I am not surprised that I was matched with Obama, because if I could vote in November, I would defenitly vote Obama.
ReplyDeleteAfter taking the quiz, I found that I was matched with Barack Obama. I agree with his political platform, and I was not surprised when I was matched with him. I was expecting to have a liberal result. One of his policies that I disagree with is health care. Obama thinks that health care should be mandatory for everyone in America, and I think that this is wrong. If the people want health care, then they can buy it, but if they do not want it, then that is their choice and the government shouldn't force them. I do, however, agree with him on many other topics, like abortions and gay marriages. I also agree with how the rich should be taxed more. I mean, they have enough money, and they don't use a lot of it, so why not help out the nation's econmy and pitch in a bit more? I do not think that we should stay overseas, I think that we should get out of the middle east and focus on our own country. If the Russians couldn't change anything there, why do we think we can? However, if I had to choose between any of the candidates, I would pick Obama because I think that he is the best choice for our country at this time.
ReplyDeleteI was too was matched with Barack Obama and I was not very surprised. I agree with a lot that he believes in, and even though i found out I am a moderate, I was expecting to lean more towards the liberal side. I like that Obama supports abortion. I do not necessary agree with abortion but I don't think that the government should be able to say that abortion is illegal, and they should leave it up to the people. If there is something I disagree with, it would probably be the health care law. I don't know much about but I don't think that people should be forced to have health care, I think it should be up to the individual to decide.
